Title: Autonomix

Release Date: June 14th, 2011
Artwork: Bernard Farley
Bernard Farley, aka Outputmessage, could have easily hired a team of producers to make just another remix compilation. Instead, Autonomix sees Farley handling almost all of the remixes duties himself. Such a project could have been redundant, but in the hands of Farley, the vocal electro-pop originals of Autonomous are transformed dramatically, barely resembling what they were before. More than just a collection of remixes, Autonomix is a companion album that gives a rare glimpse of a versatile artist re-envisioning his own work.
Highlights include the fittingly tilted "N.Y.R. (Reverse)" which pulses with reversed strings and synths, giving the uplifting track a new slightly sinister and driving edge. "I Remember (Gone)" turns the lush ballad into a surging club tune. "My Love (Quandary)" mimics the indecisive theme of the song’s lyrics, shifting between minimal 90's house and orchestrated breakbeat. Meanwhile, "Resurface (Ascent)" fuses the ambience of early Aphex Twin with Detroit techno.
Rounding out the release are three non-Outputmessage remixes. Osborne (Ghostly) delivers a laid-back jazz house remix of "N.Y.R." while Triobelisk (Swedish Columbia) unexpectedly layers "Foreign" in a seabed of guitar. Evan Scott (Race Car) finishes things off with a glimmering italo-disco take on "Syracuse".
